Background: Phytosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has drawn significant interest because of its cost-effectiveness and friendly to the environment, and potential biological applications. Objective: The current work sought to examine the effect of the aqueous leaf extract of Suaeda aegyptiaca in phytosynthesis of AgNPs. In addition, evaluate its antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Methodology: A 5% concentration of the extract was prepared and used to reduce AgNO3 and synthesize AgNPs (Sua-AgNPs). AgNP which was detected by an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), FTIR analysis, and XRD analysis to confirmed the synthesized AgNPs. Also, the antibacterial and antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles and their antioxidant activity were investigated. Results: Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) examination revealed that the average size of Sua-AgNPs was 35.36 nm with spherical morphology. A zeta potential measurement of -42.6 mV revealed that the AgNPs phytosynthesized were found to be stable over time. Sua-AgNPs effectively inhibited multiple drug-resistant bacteria. Enterococcus faecium exhibited the greatest sensitivity to AgNPs among all examined isolates, with an inhibition zone of 19.3 mm. Conversely, the lowest sensitivity to AgNPs was Enterobacter cloacae and Escherichia coli (15 mm). MIC results for all bacteria studied ranged from 15.6 to 62.5 µg/mL, and the MBC ranged from 31.25 to 125 µg/mL. The Sua-AgNPs showed higher antioxidant properties than ascorbic acid at most of the tested concentrations. Conclusion: S. aegyptiaca extract successfully synthesizes AgNPs with notable antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
